R.O.C.K. In the USA!

So I'm sitting here at the Mellencamp concert and thinking- I need to really pursue my career full time in music.
Of course, John, yes I can call him by his first name because he'll never read this blog! John made the executive decision to show a 2 hr documentary before the actual concert begins. Brass ones, Right?! If you're John Cougar Mellencamp you can do whatever you want because you're the star!
So with that being said I have a 20 minute intermission and time to get some popcorn and contemplate my future in singing. I too can control the masses and make people wait an hour to see me! It's just that easy. NOT!
Well, I will continue to find my vocal sound and try to hatch my diabolical scheme to rock it in the USA!

Changing The Scene In 2013

So... It's been 20 days into the new year and a lot has changed! We open Little Shop of Horrors in 5 days. I was called to audition for one of the most popular Broadway shows in history -"Book of Mormon". The audition went well but who knows with these things. I was invited to be in a band with a very unique name and sound- Shrubbery Transit. Our first gig is on the same day as my first guitar gig at the famous music location -The Windjammer. 1/26 will be a challenging day. But I can't wait. I am doing everything I've ever wanted. I just have to reserve a bit of energy for work. I need to be at the office at 7:30 each morning. Ugh! So far so good. My sound is frazzled but content. Busy with things I love to do = happy.

Oops I Did It Again!

A coaching colleague of mine just called me out yesterday! I was filling her in on what was going on in the last few months.  I shared that I worked myself into the energy point of no return.  I was burning out.   She quickly pointed out that at the same time last year, I was telling her a similar story about how I hustled so hard I needed to take a break.  She highlighted that it appears that August is the season for slowing down.  But I shouldn't be working so hard until I'm at the brink of burn out AGAIN.   Oops! I did it again.  I got lost in the game.     What's interesting is that we focus on bad habits like smoking, over eating, negative self talk but I think we forget that how we work can also be a habit that needs close attention.   My name is Joyel Crawford and I'm a workaholic. Things I've Done in 2013: Reprised a role I played in college-Crystal in Little Shop of horrors  Performed for 3 Nights in Vegas at the Rouge Lounge at MGM Grand at my 2nd Rock N Roll Fantasy Camp Performed and recorded with Sammy Hagar Twice!!! Was coached by Vic Johnson (guitarist with Sammy Hagar) Performed with Guitar God-Steve Vai Coached by Lita Ford!
